Ice Cream

Scott drew a colorful rainbow ice cream cone, with playful wavy shapes in orange, green, blue, purple, pink and grey. He added his own “McDonald’s” touch (slightly misspelled) and labeled the flavors across the cone. The bold black shadow on the ground grounds the bright colors with a confident, playful weight.

It’s a fun study in color blocking: each “flavor” gets its own hue, but they all sit together on the same waffle cone, casting one unified shadow. The black background shadow is a clever compositional choice — it makes the bright rainbow colors above it feel even brighter.

Dated September 19, 2016, and signed Wei Yuchen (魏煜宸). A playful still-life study that shows how confidently Scott was already working with color and form.
